Thanks to all those in Yeovil that visited our street stall and shared their opinions of Brexit with us.
In the 2016 referendum, South Somerset (in which Yeovil is located) voted ~57/43% in favour of Brexit. It is therefore very interesting to see the results of our Brexitometer with only a few people believing that Brexit was going well.
We will be running a People’s Vote stall on Middle Street Yeovil from 10.30 until 1 where we will be handing out leaflets, conducting a Brexitometer and hopefully, encouraging people to write to MPs. We will be meeting by the entrance to the Quedam that is just above Waterstones bookshop. There is an empty shop just opposite there. It would be really great if you could join us and pass this information on. We would love to see you if anyone could come and help.
Our first street stall is Taunton was very successful with lots of people coming to talk to us about their concerns with Brexit. We had lots of positive engagement with our Brexitometer – only one person thought that Brexit was going well! In 2016 Taunton Deane voted ~53/47 to leave so it appears that public opinion is really starting to change.
Following the success in Taunton we are now planning several more Street Stalls. Here’s a list of planned dates and locations …
Saturday 1st December
Saturday 8th December
Thursday 13th December
Saturday 15th December
If you are able to come along and help, or just offer moral support, then please join us – the street stalls are a really valuable way of connecting with people. If you have suggestions for locations of street stalls then please also get in touch.
